Understanding Uninsured Medical Services

While OHIP covers most medically necessary physician services, some services are not publicly funded and require direct payment.
​
Examples of services not covered by OHIP include:
• Prescription renewals without a medical visit
• Sick or fitness to work notes
• Completion of third-party forms and reports
• Insurance and disability paperwork
• Medical legal reports
• Travel medicine consultations and vaccines
• Cosmetic assessments and related testing
• Certain medical procedures (ear wax removal, wart treatments other than genital/plantar warts etc)
• Missed appointments without sufficient notice
• Copying or transferring medical records at patient request

Notice to Patients of Dr. Jardine
​
Prescription refills requested outside of a medical appointment require significant physician time outside of patient hours and are not covered by OHIP.
​
As of January 2026, Dr. Jardine will charge a fee of $25 for prescription renewals completed outside an appointment.
​
To avoid this fee, please request all medication renewals during your scheduled visits or book an appointment for prescription renewal 2-3 months in advance before you run out.
